Doodle for Google

Google runs an annual competition in which students compete to design a Google logo. Contestants are grouped in brackets by grade ranges (e.g.grades K-3, 10-12). Submissions are judged based on artistic merit, creativity and theme communication. Finalists are judged on state-by-state basis, and the national winner’s design is featured on Google.com.

Beyond serious bragging rights, the prizes for finalists and the national winner are HUGE. The big champion wins, among other things, a $30,000 college scholarship and $50,000 toward a technology upgrade at his or her school. The four other national finalists receive a $5,000 scholarship and some other cool prizes.

HOT TIP: There’s no entry fee, so why not?! The upside is huge, and the downside is non-existent. So just do it!
