The High School Internship Program allows you to connect with arts, museum, and creative professionals as you develop professional skills, network, and gain work experience during the academic year.”

How do I expand this narrative arc? Consider spending a summer at one of the many rewarding and intensive university-based art programs. For example, check out the Savannah College of Art and Design Summer Program. Alternatively:

  • Take an advanced course in Art History at school.

  • Get permission from your High School to create an art display on ceiling tiles to show off the amazing art created by the studio art students. Alternatively, you could use the medium to highlight books, women’s rights, civil rights, climate change or anything you feel strongly about.

  • Be part of the Anno-Tate project to transcribe the sketchbooks of famous artists.

  • Apply for the rigorous and interdisciplinary Stanford Summer Arts program.

HOT TIP: It can be challenging to build a robust narrative arc in your home community when your interests are well-defined and somewhat uncommon. The great news is that with a little work and creativity you can build a collection of pursuits that are truly unique and different.
