Are you interested in robotics and keen to do more in the world of underwater ROV design? SeaPerch is an outstanding underwater robotics program that aims to teach kids the skills they need to design and build remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs). Each year SeaPerch invites top performers from its program to compete in the SeaPerch Challenge. In the Challenge, teams must build and operate ROVs through a series of obstacles and real-world inspired tasks. It’s a great twist on robotics, and a hugely useful skill set for someone interested in robots and design.

SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting. The International Challenge allows teams of middle and high school students to design and build remotely operated underwater vehicles to complete a variety of tasks. Trophies and certificates are awarded.

The annual International SeaPerch Challenge is an invitation-only event that tests the skills learned in the SeaPerch program with a series of obstacles and real-world inspired tasks. The challenge is open to teams that excel at registered regional competitions and earn a slot to compete in the season’s culminating event. Each season a new theme and set of competition tasks are released. Discover this year’s theme and dive into a new challenge.

HOT TIP: Teacher-supervised robotics competitions are an amazing way to develop close working relationships with adults. The SeaPerch Challenge will push the limits of your robotics game, but it can also help you develop a teacher-mentor who is well-placed to help you with class and college selection, and to write you an amazing college recommendation.
