How do I expand this narrative arc?

  • Turn your research into a more robust project once you are back at home. Enlist a teacher to help with an independent study.

  • Fundraise in your local community for a shark conservation charity. Want to learn more? Download our PDF - Stand Out From The Pack - Campaign.

  • Sharks have many biological features that have become the inspiration for new technologies. Take what you have learned about sharks and turn it into a biomimetic solution to a climate change problem in the Biomimicry Institute Youth Design Challenge.

HOT TIP: Even if shark research is truly your passion there is a risk that your exotic trip to FIJI will be viewed by admissions officers as a “pay to play” endeavor. How do you overcome this presumption? Make sure that you connect your marine biology adventure with robust and authentic activities back at home. This is a great supplement to an existing interest, or a great spark for a new one. Just make sure that there’s something else related featured in your narrative arc!
